New Hydrostatic transmission from Danfoss

Danfoss Power Solutions is now launching PC-AC MultiMotor, a new hydrostatic propel system that combines one pump with two or four drive motors. The solution provides individual control of each wheel or axle and delivers improved traction, stability, and predictable handling at all speeds — from standstill to full travel speed.

Increased Traction and Enhanced Control

The system is designed to address several of the challenges that heavy mobile machinery often faces in varying terrain. PC-AC MultiMotor includes features such as:

  • Anti-slip control, which prevents wheel slip and improves stability on soft, slippery, or uneven surfaces.

  • Anti-lock braking functionality, providing shorter stopping distances and reducing the risk of rollback or wheel lock during braking.

  • Active load and axle distribution, which optimizes tractive effort based on vehicle configuration, load, and ground conditions.

These features make the system particularly attractive for machines used in agriculture, forestry, construction, mining, and other environments where demanding terrain conditions are common.

Shorter Time from Idea to Finished Machine

One of the major advantages of PC-AC MultiMotor is how quickly it can be brought into operation. The system is built on Danfoss’ established propulsion software platform and comes with ready-to-use software that can be configured as needed.

This means machine manufacturers avoid developing complex control systems from scratch. In many cases, calibration and commissioning can be completed in as little as one week, reducing development time by up to a third compared with traditional solutions.

Moreover, the system meets modern functional safety requirements, including SIL 2 and PLd, simplifying both certification work and customer compliance.

A Flexible Solution for Many Machine Types

PC-AC MultiMotor can be used on vehicles with single or dual axle steering, as well as on articulated (mid-steered) machines. This makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from tractors and sprayers to mining vehicles and other heavily loaded work machines.

This flexibility enables manufacturers to use the same driveline solution across multiple machine models, simplifying development and service while reducing total cost.
