New valve package from HAWE

A new generation of valve packages for mobile machines

HAWE Hydraulik has launched the MICK valve package, a further development in load-sensing proportional valves aimed at modern mobile machines. The solution is based on the proven PSL valve technology but is combined with integrated 8/3-way diverter valves within the same section.

The result is a more compact and functional valve block that addresses several of today’s challenges in mobile hydraulics: space, energy efficiency, and system integration.

The unique feature: Three consumers on the same valve section

The most notable innovation is the ability to supply up to three double-acting consumers from a single directional valve section.

This is achieved by mounting an additional valve (diverter) directly on the section, distributing the flow to different functions.

In practice, this means that:

  • a traditional valve bank can be replaced by fewer sections
  • multiple functions (e.g., boom, outriggers, and auxiliary functions) can be handled within the same block
  • machine design is significantly simplified

This integration means that a MICK section can, in some cases, replace up to three separate valve blocks.

Compact system with high functional density

By combining multiple functions within a single valve section, MICK offers clear advantages:

  • Reduced installation space and lower weight
  • Fewer components and reduced cost
  • Modular design with up to 11 sections

The high level of integration makes the solution particularly attractive for applications where space is critical, such as aerial lifts, concrete pumps, and other mobile machines.

Integrated safety and sequence control

MICK also stands out due to its built-in safety logic. The valve package includes an integrated hydraulic safety circuit with redundant shut-offs, ensuring that different functions are not activated simultaneously by mistake.

This is especially important in machines where functions must operate in sequence, for example:

  • outriggers before boom movement
  • safe separation of cylinder groups

CAN bus and simplified installation

Another key feature is the integration of CAN bus control, even for secondary functions.

This enables:

  • easier automation
  • fewer external cables
  • faster installation

The system can also use simplified internal connections with fewer interfaces, reducing the risk of errors and shortening assembly time.

Energy-efficient and future-proof

With low pressure loss (Δp) and load-sensing control, MICK is designed to meet the demands of electrification and energy-efficient machines.

The proportional control also provides stepless flow regulation regardless of load, contributing to both precision and reduced energy consumption.

Summary: What is new and unique?

What primarily sets HAWE MICK apart from traditional valve packages is:

  • Three consumers per valve section via integrated diverter valve
  • Combination of multiple valve functions in one block
  • Integrated safety circuit for sequence control
  • Full CAN bus integration, even for auxiliary functions
  • Compact design with reduced need for cabling and components

Overall, this represents a clear step toward more integrated, compact, and electrification-ready hydraulic systems.
