STAUFF is expanding its range of quick couplings with MCS, a new multi-coupling system that makes it possible to connect or disconnect up to six hydraulic lines simultaneously. The system is developed for, among others, construction, agricultural and forestry machines where attachments are changed regularly.
Connecting several hydraulic hoses individually takes time and also involves a risk of lines being connected to the wrong port. With the new MCS system, Multi Coupling System, STAUFF brings together several hydraulic connections in one common interface.
This allows the operator to connect or disconnect between two and six hydraulic circuits in a single operation. The coupling is operated with a hand lever and requires no tools.
Designed for attachment changes
A clear target group is mobile machines where hydraulic attachments or units are changed frequently. STAUFF points in particular to agricultural and construction machinery as well as forestry equipment as typical areas of use. The system can also be used in stationary industrial hydraulic systems.
The principle provides several practical advantages for recurring changes:
- Several hydraulic lines are connected at the same time.
- The risk of hoses being connected to the wrong circuit is reduced.
- The time required to change attachments or equipment can be shortened.
- The connection can be made even when residual pressure is present in the system.
- Electrical connections can be integrated in certain versions.
MCS uses flat-face coupling elements, which limits oil spillage during connection and disconnection while also reducing the possibility of dirt entering via the coupling surfaces.
Up to 350 bar operating pressure
STAUFF offers the system for hydraulic lines from DN 6, corresponding to ¼ inch, up to DN 25 or 1 inch. Depending on the version, MCS can be used at operating pressures of up to 350 bar.
The design uses, among other materials, steel, aluminium and reinforced plastics. Locking is performed with a mechanical hand lever designed to provide a secure and vibration-resistant connection.
The possibility of connecting under residual pressure is of particular interest in mobile hydraulic systems. Pressure can remain in hoses and attachments after disconnection, for example due to temperature changes or loads on hydraulic cylinders. This can otherwise make conventional quick couplings difficult to connect.
Hydraulics and electrics in the same interface
For machines where the attachment needs both hydraulics and electrical signals, MCS is also available in versions with electrical connections.
This means that, in some applications, an attachment change can be brought together into one common connection interface instead of separate hydraulic and electrical connections.
STAUFF positions MCS as a complement to the company’s existing range of quick couplings. Above all, the system is aimed at applications where recurring attachment changes make fast connection, correct coupling and limited oil spillage important for the machine’s daily operation.
