HydraSpecma strengthens its Nordic position – acquires Norwegian Hyco

The Danish industrial group HydraSpecma continues its expansion in the Nordics and has now acquired the Norwegian hydraulics specialist Hyco AS. The deal marks a strategic step in the company’s ambition to establish a comprehensive Nordic platform within advanced industrial solutions.

The acquisition means that Norway now becomes a prioritized home market for HydraSpecma, alongside Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. This geographically connects the company’s Nordic presence—something that has long been a stated strategy.

Rising demand drives consolidation

The background to the deal is a growing demand for integrated solutions where hydraulics are combined with software and system design. Particularly in Norway, where industry is strong in energy, offshore, and marine applications, the need for technically advanced end-to-end solutions is increasing.

Hyco, based in the Stavanger region, specializes in exactly this—hydraulic system solutions combined with programming and integration. The company is also an established partner of Danfoss Power Solutions, further strengthening its technical profile.

Strategic complement

For HydraSpecma, the acquisition represents more than just geographic expansion. Hyco’s expertise in system design and software complements the group’s existing offering within hydraulics, fluid transfer, and electrification.

At the same time, the deal strengthens the company’s local presence in Norway, where operations will now be conducted from several locations, including Kleppe, Flekkefjord, and Kristiansand.

Trend: fewer—but stronger—players

The deal is also a sign of a broader trend in the industry: increasing consolidation. Customers are increasingly demanding partners that can deliver complete systems rather than individual components.

This benefits larger players with a broad offering—and explains why companies like HydraSpecma continue to grow through acquisitions.

Shared values highlighted

Both HydraSpecma and Hyco emphasize cultural alignment as an important factor behind the deal. The companies have had a relationship for over a decade and share a common view on customer focus, technical expertise, and long-term partnerships.

For Hyco, the acquisition provides access to a larger network and increased resources, which is expected to enable continued growth—now as part of a larger Nordic structure.
