HAWE Launches 3-in-1 Amplifier Plug for Hydraulic Valves

More Intelligence in Minimal Space

HAWE Hydraulik has introduced an innovative product called EMMA, a compact plug-shaped proportional amplifier that combines several functions within a single unit. The product is characterized by easy commissioning, intelligent monitoring capabilities, and wireless parameter configuration via WiFi.

The new concept integrates signal amplification, position monitoring, and a built-in web server in one housing — something HAWE describes as a world first. The integrated web server allows configuration directly via any WiFi device without requiring additional software or cabling.

Compared to its predecessor, the EV2S, EMMA offers multiple advanced features for condition monitoring despite its compact size. According to Product Manager Marcus Hofmann, the ambition was to create more than a conventional amplifier plug — the goal was to deliver a flexible solution that simplifies valve system design and monitoring.

Installation and Operation

EMMA can be connected directly to solenoids — single, double, or twin types — and is immediately ready for use. For position monitoring, the device includes a built-in switch point that can be read wirelessly at any time. A neutral position value can be transmitted in real time to higher-level control systems via a digital output. This eliminates the need for external sensors, offering a clear benefit to designers and OEMs.

To enable precise control and repeatability, EMMA supports closed-loop control with minimal hysteresis. As a result, a standard valve equipped with EMMA becomes an intelligent, monitored high-tech module with integrated electronics.

Technical Features

Key specifications include:

  • Integrated web server with WiFi access

  • Plug-and-play compatibility for multiple solenoid types

  • Digital position monitoring with output signal

  • Closed-loop control for precise spool movement

  • CAN interface for communication

  • Parameter storage and transfer via WLAN

  • Two versions available – with 1 or 2 PWM outputs

  • Standard M12 connector for wide compatibility

Thanks to its compact design, EMMA fits a wide range of valve types — directional, pressure, and flow control valves — both from HAWE and other manufacturers. The product will be available as a standalone solution, making it a flexible option for diverse applications.

Hägglunds Viking motor still powers the winch solutions of the future

The Hägglunds Viking motor, originally developed in the 1970s, continues to be a natural choice in modern winch systems. The classic hydraulic motor is still manufactured in Mellansel outside Örnsköldsvik and is now being used in a new innovative winch solution from DÉGRA for heavy marine applications.
