Parker brings hydraulics into Industry 4.0 with a new valve generation

Parker Hannifin introduces a new generation of its DFplus valves. The focus is on improved digital communication, advanced electronics and servo-class control precision – features designed to make it easier to integrate hydraulics into modern, connected machine systems.

The new generation builds on Parker’s established servo-proportional valve technology, where a patented Voice Coil Drive solution provides very high dynamics and precise control of hydraulic flow. The result is valves capable of regulating position, pressure and speed with servo-level performance in applications where traditional proportional valves have previously been limited.

Integrated digital communication

The main innovation lies in the electronics. The valve features a new processor architecture and expanded communication capabilities.

With support for industrial interfaces such as IO-Link and EtherCAT, the valve can communicate directly with PLC systems and machine control via fieldbus. At the same time, the option of using traditional analog control signals is retained.

This allows manufacturers to digitalize their hydraulic systems without having to rebuild the entire control architecture – an important step in the transition toward more connected and data-driven production environments.

Diagnostics directly in the valve

Another new feature is integrated diagnostics. The valve includes built-in NFC functionality and LED indicators, making it possible to read status information and parameters directly in the field.

Together with Parker’s software for parameterization and analysis, this is intended to make it faster to configure valves and optimize system dynamics.

Servo performance in robust hydraulics

The hydraulic section itself builds on previous DFplus generations and offers high flow capacity combined with very fast response. The valves are typically used in applications such as presses, injection molding machines, machine tools and other equipment where precise motion control is critical.

With the combination of servo precision, digital communication and integrated diagnostics, Parker positions the valve as a step toward more intelligent hydraulics in industry.
