Atos Introduces Double Pump Management

Atos has launched a new concept in servo-hydraulics: the Double Pump Management System, designed to enhance performance and energy efficiency in modern hydraulic drive systems. The system uses two pumps driven by a single motor, allowing it to automatically switch between high-flow and high-pressure phases in a smart and efficient way.

How the System Works

During operation, both pumps run in parallel during high-flow / low-pressure phases to deliver large volumes of fluid for fast movement. When the cycle shifts to low-flow / high-pressure phases, one pump is vented while the other continues to supply the required pressure.
This configuration enables machines to achieve both high speed and high force without compromising on efficiency or system size.

The shared motor driving both pumps contributes to a more compact and cost-effective assembly, making the system particularly attractive for equipment manufacturers seeking a balance between performance, energy savings, and reduced footprint.

Key Benefits of Double Pump Management

  • Cost reduction: A smaller motor and drive can be used, lowering the overall cost of the servopump system.

  • Energy efficiency: Only the necessary pump operates during high-pressure phases, minimizing energy consumption and power losses.

  • Performance optimization: The system automatically balances high-flow and high-pressure requirements, resulting in smoother operation and shorter cycle times.

  • Reduced heat generation: High efficiency leads to less heat dissipation, potentially allowing for smaller tanks and cooling systems.

Technical Applications and Examples

Atos offers Double Pump Management across several product lines:

  • SSP Smart Servopump (Double Pump Execution): An intelligent servopump system combining a servomotor with an internal gear pump for precise flow and pressure control.

  • PFED Double Vane Pump: A dual-cartridge pump featuring a single inlet and two independent outlets for flexible hydraulic power distribution.

  • Modular Multiple Pump Systems: Factory-assembled double or triple pump units (vane or piston types) driven by a single motor for scalable industrial applications.

Summary

With the Double Pump Management System, Atos introduces a new generation of servo-hydraulic technology that combines compact design, energy efficiency, and high performance.
The solution is particularly suited for applications demanding both speed and power – such as presses, injection molding machines, test benches, and other systems with variable load cycles.

Through this innovation, Atos demonstrates how modern hydraulics can meet the evolving demands of energy-efficient and digitally controlled machinery.
