HYDAC Handheld Measurement Instruments: Universal Tools for Service and Troubleshooting

HYDAC offers a series of handheld measurement instruments designed to facilitate maintenance, service, and troubleshooting in fluid technology systems. Among these instruments, the portable devices HMG 500 and HMG 510 stand out, both tailored for flexible and precise measurements in hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.

HMG 500 – Simple and Versatile

  • Portable two-channel unit with user-friendly push-button control and a large LCD display that also shows battery status.

  • Can connect to two HYDAC sensors with HSI interface, which are automatically recognized with measurement range and unit configured accordingly.

  • High sampling frequency enables tracking of fast pressure peaks and reliefs with min/max memory.

  • Allows for differential measurements by comparing two sensors, for example to calculate pressure drop or temperature difference.

  • Provides users with a setup assistant for mechanical pressure and temperature switches.

HMG 510 – Compact and Powerful

  • Small and lightweight device, ideal for maintenance, commissioning, and service technicians.

  • Like the HMG 500, it allows connection of two HSI sensors, including SMART sensors such as the HYDACLAB® Oil Condition Sensor, AquaSensor, and Contamination Sensor.

  • The instrument automatically detects the sensors and configures settings for the user. Measurement values with units are displayed on a clear LCD screen.

  • Equipped with a USB port, enabling data transfer to a PC and further analysis via HYDAC’s CMWIN software.

  • This model also supports adjustment of mechanical switches, increasing its usefulness in field applications.

Comparison Table

Feature HMG 500 HMG 510
Portability Robust and user-friendly More compact, ideal for field service
Sensor connection Two HSI sensors, automatic recognition Two HSI or SMART sensors, automatic recognition
Display LCD with battery status LCD with simultaneous values and units
Data handling Min/max memory, differential measurement USB connection, export via CMWIN software
Switch setup function Yes Yes

Conclusion

HYDAC’s handheld measurement instruments – particularly the HMG 500 and HMG 510 models – are reliable and user-friendly tools for technicians working in fluid technology. They provide high measurement accuracy, fast sampling rates, automatic sensor recognition, and practical functions for troubleshooting and configuration. With support for SMART sensors and PC-based analysis, the HMG 510 is especially well-suited for advanced diagnostics and documentation.
